Introduction to Lino

Introduction to Lino

Lino is one of the most direct and immediate printmaking processes you can do, cutting away a surface to leave a top surface which then can be printed from.  Lino is a late 19th-century flooring material which printmakers adopted as soon as one year after development and never stopped using as an alternative to wood.

The benefits are, there is no grain, and it is much softer, therefore is far easier to cut and in any direction creating more flowing movement with your cutting tools.
