EXCITING NEWS: OUR FIRST INTERNATIONAL ENTRY FOR THE “YOUR ART, YOUR LEGACY” COMPETITION!

We’re thrilled to share that our “Your Art, Your Legacy” competition has reached beyond the UK welcoming our first international submission from the USA! Artist Jeremy Aldridge, a Vermont-based painter, has been an active member of the UK Alzheimer’s forum for some time and feels a deep connection to the community. His incredible artwork offers a unique and deeply personal perspective on living with Alzheimer’s.

Jeremy has submitted several thought-provoking pieces, including:

“Sweet Smile” A gouache painting capturing Becky, a woman in an Alzheimer’s support group he attends. Jeremy describes her as having long silver, flyaway hair a presence that is pleasant but distant, reflecting the quiet but profound impact of the condition.

“Lewy B” A striking interpretation of the visual distortions associated with Lewy Body Dementia, offering a glimpse into the altered perception many experiences.

“Sea of Tangles” & “Sundown” Two additional works exploring the complexities of memory loss, disorientation, and the emotional journey of Alzheimer’s.

A graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA), Jeremy spent 40 years as a chimney sweep and stove installer to support his family, all while pursuing his passion for painting. Now, art has become his grounding force, a way to express and visualize the realities of Alzheimer’s.

Beyond painting, Jeremy has a deep appreciation for stone lithography, a traditional printmaking technique where artists grind and prepare limestone slabs before creating intricate hand-drawn prints. He recalls the powerful connection he felt while working with stones that had been used by artists long before him an echo of creativity passed down through time. This reverence for artistic history, combined with his own journey, makes his work even more meaningful.
