Pure Art from the Heart
Sylvia Wright’s artistic journey began after her Alzheimer’s diagnosis, when she found herself needing something to stimulate her brain after losing the ability to drive and cook. A friend gifted her paints, and she quickly developed a deep love for art. Sylvia paints with passion, using color and brushstrokes to capture her memories and thoughts—reminding herself that once they’re on canvas, Alzheimer’s can’t steal them.
Through her artwork, Sylvia takes us on a journey that reflects the emotional highs and lows of living with Alzheimer’s—from the joy of love and laughter to the sadness and fear that sometimes accompany the condition. In her words: “I paint the rollercoaster ride of living with Alzheimer’s from the inside looking out.”
For each painting, Sylvia writes a short story, offering a personal perspective on the diverse experience of Alzheimer’s. With four close family members diagnosed with the disease, she knows the journey well, and her art and storytelling aim to educate and inspire. Sylvia’s mission is clear: she wants to remind everyone that Alzheimer’s cannot steal love—the one thing that truly matters.
Sylvia’s Message:
“I catch you before you fall, and you catch me
We will inspire people
We will become hand catchers
In saving you, I am saving myself.
Let’s travel this journey together”.
Love Sylvia.
